Portland born & raised, Mary is a true Maine designer. What began in childhood as a simple compulsion to observe & draw has since evolved into an unquenched curiosity for semiotics & sincere admiration for captivating storytelling. Her pursuit of artistry in visual storytelling has lead her across a multitude of mediums digital and tactile, and through creative spaces both commercial and artistically expressive.

Lately, Mary balances a freelance design practice exploring playful branding solutions for local small business clients, with getting elbows-deep muddy at the clay studio. Her ambition, borrowed from German, is to cultivate a ‘gesamtkunstwerk’ inspired by the concept of liminality. Mary continues to draw compulsively. When not creating, she seeks out fresh sources of inspiration, from architecture, vintage & antiques, secondhand publications to the unwavering natural beauty of coastal Maine. You’ll find her kayaking up & down the river, eyes peeled for a glimpse of wildlife to illustrate in pastel.
